This African parrot species is the cutest bird you can own as a pet. The name has come from the bird’s love of cooing and pecking their loved ones. But they also require you to love them hard and they will show their love for you. Lovebirds are a pure source of fun and laughter and a single bird is enough to make your life enjoyable. Intelligent, affectionate and playful, Lovebirds, with raining, love to perch on your finger and shoulder as you move around and also play hide and seek with you in your hair. They can also talk and whistle and give you a kiss and perform tricks.

Peach-faced Lovebirds

Peach-faced Lovebirds are the most popular Lovebirds among the parrot species. They are found in varied types such as Lutino, Pied, Dutch-Blue and Cinnamon.

Intelligent and active, they love to lay their claws on toys which can be simply wooden and small in size. However, they can also shred your newspaper to pieces if given a chance. Curious by nature, they can learn to open the latch of their cages.

The Peach-faced Lovebirds have sweet voices and it is pleasant to hear them coo to each other. You may find your Lovebird cozying up to and preferably bond closely with another Lovebird even if it is new to the house. On pairing up, they may tend to disobey you.

Because of their small size, small cages are sufficient to give their needed exercise. Hence, space is not a problem to keep them and with their sweet voices, they are ideal for apartment living.

African Lovebirds

These birds, found in Africa and Madagascar, all nine different species of them, are stout looking with breath-taking colors and rounded tails. Small and gorgeous, African Lovebirds are social and noisy birds. However, they do not like to live in colonies as they prefer to have enough space for themselves. They are content to alone or at most in pairs.

These Lovebirds are intelligent and can be trained to talk and perform tricks. They are also quite adept in flying away from their cages, so be careful. To keep these most colorful and graceful birds, you need to look after them with patience, skill and knowledge and see them drastically change your life for the better.
